Team Total Rehab
This year we were excited and proud to have taken part with our All Terrain Mountain Trike in the annual Piako Triathlon, along with nearly 350 people who took part of on Sunday 18th March. Matt Gordon of Te Aroha took on the swimming section and then the running sections of the Triathlon using our All Terrain Mountain Trike. Matt suffered a severe spinal injury several years ago. After much determination and hard work he is now able to walk short distances. Matt is a personal trainer and public speaker. Currently he's focused on preparing and training to compete in the para Olympics in 2020 in power lifting.
Tim Williams lives just out of Nagatea, with his wife Jo and children. In 1995 he was playing rep Rugby and suffered neck dislocation during a scrum collapse, leaving him with quadriplegia, Tim has competed at the Wheelchair Rugby Champs in Canada winning silver in the final.Tim has been riding competitively for approximately 6 years and has competed overseas at 2 UCI Para road World Cups and 3UCI Road World, champion in the H1 time trail in 2014. Tim uses a carbon fibre hand cycle at 12kgs. Tim did the cycle part of the Triathlon for Team Total Rehab. Thanks so much for participating Tim and Matt!
